Chemdog is one of the godfathers of modern cannabis history and the second of the MFNY Classics that pay homage to the strains that shaped modern cannabis — and the highs they first brought us.
The First “Branded” Weed
Before Sour Diesel there was Chemdog: the first cultivar people sought out specifically, by name, for its flavor. The origins of Chemdog trace back to, no surprise, a Grateful Dead show where Greg Krzanowski bought a bag of bud. He got more in the mail from the same folks and germinated some of those bagseeds. And the rest is very pungent history.
The Dogfather of Solventless
Chemdog is a cultivar that growers love to grow and consumers really love (this combo is surprisingly rare). It’s such a special plant - high-performing and high-yielding - and it practically begs for solventless extraction. We let our Chemdog grow and finish over 70 days: ten beyond what most operations do. Because if you cut early, these genetics taste muted and underdeveloped. We give Chemdog the time it needs so everything opens up: the plant tells us when it's ready.
Caramel Gas and a Bag of Fritos
The flavor opens with an immediately recognizable clean caramel gas. Then shifts into something raunchy and funky that we compare to opening a fresh bag of Fritos (not an insult). It's what happens when pure funk becomes palatable without losing a single bit of intensity. In the gas and funk category, this is the ceiling.
Use With Intent
The effects lean indica because they’re heavier, more physical, more deliberate. The euphoria is real, but Chemdog asks you to stop and actually be where you are. Why We're Doing This
These cultivars represent what we think the highest expression of what cannabis can be. We sourced our Chemdog from the same place as our Sour Diesel, through the same meticulous process of restoring healthy mother stock. Chemdog is our second Classics release and that’s intentional: Because it’s the natural next stop on a “Flavor Train.” And there are more stops to come.
